Book Club on Climates by André Maurois
In June 2022, The Albertine Book Club will read Climates by André Maurois, translated by Adriana Hunter and publisher by Other Press.
This magnificently written novel about a double conjugal failure is imbued with subtle yet profound psychological insights of a caliber that arguably rivals Tolstoy’s. As Philippe, the main character of the novel, wrote in his diary: “In this drama of love, we take turns in playing the role of the more loved and the less loved. All the lines then switch from one performer to the other, but they stay the same.” André Maurois breaks down this endless dance, step by step, with remarkable wit, insight, and, most importantly, with a troubling honesty.
Albertine Members will receive a Zoom invitation to join this book club session via email.
The Albertine Book Club is free and open to Albertine Constellation members. Speakers of French and English are both welcome. For more information on how to become an Albertine member, click here.
